Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the duration of the process?

We typically request a minimum of two weeks for the entire process. However, the timeline may vary based on the unique characteristics and size of the estate, necessitating specific scheduling considerations. These details and more will be thoroughly addressed in your initial consultation, which comes at no charge.

  • Is there an upfront payment required?

Our business operates solely on a commission basis, with fees deducted upon the completion of your sale. Rest assured, we never request any upfront payments or deposits to facilitate your sale.

  • What are the initial steps?

Simply reach out to us and schedule your first consultation. If you choose to engage with the Alligator Liquidators and Estate Sales team, the subsequent step involves choosing a date for your sale. Identify and set aside any items marked 'Not for Sale,' grant access to the sales team, and then, you can confidently relax as we take care of the rest!

  • What occurs with unsold items after the estate sale?

Our aim is to sell as much of your estate's items as feasible, employing effective pricing, staging, and advertising strategies. Nonetheless, there usually are items left post-sale. These remaining items are rightfully yours. We're here to offer guidance on various options, such as donating to a charitable cause or arranging clean-out services. Providing this additional service is our pleasure, streamlining the entire estate sales process for you, your family, and your schedule.

  • When will I receive payment?

You can expect payment within 2 weeks following the conclusion of your sale. This will encompass a detailed summary of the sale for your records, along with any supplemental documentation like log sheets and charity receipts.

  • Is it possible for us to attend the estate sale?

While you are certainly welcome to attend, we highly recommend against it. The emotional nature of estate sales can be challenging for family members. Moreover, customers often engage in negotiations with family members, leading to conflicts with the overall estate sale strategy. We suggest planning a enjoyable activity for the day instead!

  • What security measures are in place?

We ensure sufficient staff presence during your sale to deter theft or damage. Our uniformed staff members are easily identifiable, providing assistance to customers while helping prevent any untoward incidents. Additionally, upon request or as needed, we can arrange for off-duty police officers or independent security professionals to further enhance security at your sale*. Video surveillance is utilized in sections displaying high-end or valuable items.

*Off-duty police or independent security arrangements, if requested or necessary, will be covered by the client.
